This site is concerned with family and social history in the ancient Hundred of Frome, which consisted of the parishes of Beckington, Berkley, Cloford, Elm, Frome Selwood, Laverton, Lullington, Marston Bigot, Nunney, Orchardleigh, Rode (Road), Rodden, Standerwick, Wanstrow, Whatley and Woolverton. It also included the adjacent Liberties of East Cranmore, Leigh upon Mendip, Mells and Witham Friary (see map). The site also includes material about the Peculiar of Buckland Dinham because of its proximity to Frome Hundred.
Most of the data assembled in these pages were contributed by researchers with particular interests in Frome and nearby villages. No new material has been added for some years because the site has been superseded by the Frome Hundred group at yahoogroups.com, of which I am a moderator. The Yahoo group is an online community of over 800 members and offers access not only to membersí research and local expertise, but to a huge amount of additional transcriptions and images. To apply to become a member, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and research interests.
There remains unique material on this site and I recommend you use the Search tab above to look for data that might be of interest to you.
